THE MEDICAL (FAA CERTIFIED or BASIC MED)
FAA Medicals are listed as Third, 2nd, and Showtime Class. Almost students should start with a third course document (...least requirements).
If you think that you lot might may take a disqualifying medical condition and/or prescribed medication, please contact a local AME (Airman Medical Examiner) preferably sooner rather than later so you don't waste product your fourth dimension and money. There are many resources on the web which may aid with general questions relating to what medical weather are disqualifying for airmen. Required medications and a history of certain ailments would be worth checking early-on. In general, the FAA is amazingly accomodating to all but the almost serious. I have had students authorize while wearing an insulin pump.
To SOLO, you must have successfully completed your FAA Medical exam or complete a Bones MED medical with a physician of your choice.
A FAA certified medical with an AME (Airmen Medical Examiner) is the normal beginning medical exam for all new pilots. IF you have obtained an FAA certified medical since July fifteen, 2006 however, you may also qualify for the new FAA Part 68 - "Bones MED" canonical FAA medical certificate. Assuming y'all wish to authorize for Bones MED, if not, you may continue to receive FAA certified exams. IF you plan to fly commercially, you lot should probably not apply for Basic MED for now...you will probable be required to stay with FAA certified medical exams due to the types of aircraft your will likely wing.
Recollect - you may disregard the MedX form (beneath) and self-certify Just if you take had a successful FAA medical since July 15, 2006 and wish to utilize for Bones MED.👉 👉 👉 FAA CERTIFIED MEDICALS Showtime HERE - FAA MEDEX Application FORM
☠ *Important: You must be honest and true on this application even for DMV records. They do check!!!
Y'all can end and relieve the form simply when yous striking "submit" please record your MedEX assigned number. You must give that number to your FAA Physician (AME).
See the FAA-AME listing of authorized physicians for the FAA medical test. Utilise LOCATION SEARCH FOR AME..Locally you can find an AME in Roanoke, Princeton,WV (681-282-5591) and Marion.
Remember to accept the number assigned at the cease of your form submission to your AME on the solar day of your exam. The FAA will also email the number to you. Do not go to your AME without that number(I did that once...very painful!).
Important: Come up abroad from the AME with a third* grade medical (*or higher if you lot want but not necessary for a pupil pilot). A get-go class medical is required for Air Transport Pilots and has the virtually extensive requirements and it is merely good for six months but if you are intending to exist an airline pilot y'all may demand this one some twenty-four hours. A third course medical is expert for two years and has minimum requirements (FIVE YEARS if you are under twoscore years of historic period).
Bones Med does have some important LIMITATIONS compared to FAA certified medicals: No more than vi passengers or seats - aircraft less than 6,000 lbs - flight only at xviii,000 ft and below - no more than 250 kts airspeed and other requirements to continue your medical checklist, etc. with your logbook.
As well, a CME (Comprehensive Medical Exam) is required every iv years. On that visit the doctor must fill out a CMEC (CME Checklist)...that CMEC stays with your logbook.
You will then be able to self-certify your medical by displaying a current and lawful drivers license equally your airman medical and making a logbook entry with the completed physician's checklist.
